Game Overview - Falling
- A Dodger that falls before the end of the Round is Out. This counts toward scoring same as being hit.
- A Fielder that falls has no effect. Unless injured, the Fielder simply stands and resumes playing.
- If a Dodger (In Play) Falls while committing a minor penalty (example: stepping out of bounds) the Skater is simply Out and the penalty for the minor is ignored.
Details - Special Cases - Exceptions
A Fall is defined as an action where any part of a skater's body or equipment (other than the skates) touches the floor AND it is supporting the weight of the skater. Note: It is possible that while stooping to pick up a ball a skater's finger tips or knee might lightly skim the floor. This situation does not constitute a fall as the skater's weight was not supported by his finger tips or knee.
If a Dodger falls after a Round ends, then it does not matter and does not count toward calculating which team(s) score one point for the Round.
A skater is allowed to touch the floor with any part of the body in order to get into position when Taking a Knee or when standing up after the penalty elapses. Once the skater is in position (down on one knee) the restrictions apply again and it is possible that they could fall if the penalty has not expired. This is most likely to happen if they stretch too far and lose their balance when trying to catch a ball.
